  • 30-11-2013: My wee tale, The Recital, that won first place in the Fiddler’s Elbow short story competition is available for download here.
  • 30-11-2013: I will be taking part in a collaborative project with Irish artist Fiona Larkin, and writers Rowan Sexton and Ceardha Morgan. The project is called Back Story. It involves writers responding to one of Fiona’s photographs. There will be readings and a discussion on Saturday 7th December, @ Catalyst Arts, 5 College Court, Belfast. 1 p.m. I’m excited!
  • 18-11-2013: I’m going to periodically invite a guest blogger to do a Vernacularism. I’ll put up a new page for the blogs, and they’ll be on the home page as well. My first guest will be announced soon; I’m excited!
  • 18-11-2013: Vernacularisms Revisited: a Walk with Readings will take place on Saturday 23rd November, Belfast City Centre. Assemble 11 a.m. outside the Crown Bar. The walk will last approximately 1 hour. Some strong language. The walk is taking place with C.R.O.W (City Right of Way), an Arts Council funded project.
  • 17-11-2013: I’ve given A New Direction its own page so readers can enjoy the whole story uninterrupted. I’ve kept the separate part structure so that it is easy to find where you are.
  • 16-11-2013: I won joint first place in the Fiddler’s Elbow short story competition with ‘The Recital.’ I’ll post links to the story when they are available. It’s not a Vernacularism.
  • 12-11-2013: Illustrations by Susan Hughes are now available. I’ve set up a new page for them, and you can buy them direct from the artist here.
  • 24-08-2013: Bilingual Vernacularisms walks for Household Belfast art festival and Féile an Droichead, with readings in English by me, and Irish by Tom Clarke from his translations.
  • 24-08-2013: I read ‘You are my Sunshine’ for CROW ‘Spooks or Spoofs’ walk, as part of Household Belfast art festival.
  • May 2013: ‘Moon Child’ and ‘Go Ahead’ published in The Blue Hour Anthology, vol. 1. You can buy it here.
  • 8-03-2013: Recognition: Vernacularisms ‘Freshly Pressed’ by WordPress.
  • December 2012: First Vernacularisms walk for CROW.
  • 30-08-2012. Vernacularisms launched. My birthday present to myself.
